Obituary for James and Lona Stauffacher
Lona Lee Stauffacher of Tucson, AZ peacefully joined God in Heaven on March 4, 2018 holding the hand of her love, Jim.
James A Stauffacher of Tucson, AZ passed into God’s loving embrace on April 28, 2018. He was reunited with his love, Lona Lee.
Lona Lee was born in Detroit, MI to James and Ollie Schropp. She grew up in Highland Park, MI. Lona’s smile and giving heart were traits that drew people to her. She was the ultimate hostess and along with her husband planned many great dinners, gatherings and parties. She was an executive assistant early in her career. She also was a Christian clown with Caasi Caravan in Flushing, MI.
Jim was born in Minneapolis, MN to James and Mary Elise Stauffacher. He worked for General Motors and GM Service Parts Operations for over 40 years, retiring in 1999. He was a meeting planner and also instrumental in the creation of the “Mr. Goodwrench” program.
Jim and Lona Lee began their love story when they married in 1958. They are survived by 3 children: Jay and wife, Dawn Stauffacher; Lisa and husband, Jerry Cookingham and Lori Stauffacher. They so proudly loved their grandchildren and great grandchildren Kalyn (Mark), Kacey (Vince), Chevas, Olivia and Ollie, Benson and Evelyn. They are also survived by brothers, Robert and Wanda Stauffacher and Jim and Janis Schropp. There’s always much love and laughter in the family and a strong faith that God has a plan for all of us and we strive to follow His plan.
To celebrate their life and love story, a combined memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Tucson AZ. Gathering and visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the services starting at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 1431 W Magee Rd., Tucson, AZ 85704 http://www.umcstmarks.org/.
