Obituary for Mary Esther Sharon (Donaldson)
SHARON, Mary Esther Donaldson 5/27/1926 - 2/22/2018 Mary Sharon, known to her friends as Donnie, died peacefully with family on Thursday, February 22, 2018 in Tucson, Arizona. Mary was born on May 27, 1926 in Oakland, California to Louise Allene Kern and Robert Nelson Donaldson. She married Ralph Carleton Sharon in Taft, California on June 23, 1951. They have two living children, Robert and Ralph Michael, who with their families live respectively in Tucson, and in York, Pennsylvania. Mary, with her husband, lived much of her adult life in Bakersfield, California and worked variously as a nurse, teacher and for many years led a physical fitness class at the YWCA in Bakersfield. She relocated to Tucson in 2013. Mary enjoyed living, being active, and wanted to continue doing so. She was very concerned that she would not survive to the age of 70, since her mother and her mother's mother both died at the age of 69. Passing that milestone and continuing on was important to her. Mary very much enjoyed coordinating seasonally with friends at Fairwinds - Desert Point for tickets and transportation to the opera. Mary's family sincerely appreciate the many friends and staff at Fairwinds for adding value and challenge to her life; and to the doctors and nurses at Oro Valley Hospital who assisted kindly in her final hours.
