Obituary for Clara C. Uphus

Clara C Uphus of Tucson AZ passed away in her home at Amber Lights Senior Living Community on September 15, 2018; Just 2 weeks short of her 101st birthday.
Clare was born in 1917 on the family farm in Greenwald, MN. She moved to Wilmington CA in 1943 and married Bernard E Uphus in February of the same year. They settled in Pomona CA soon after and lived there together until his death in 1990. Clare relocated to Tucson AZ in 1998, where she remained until her death.
Clare was a member of St Josephs and St Madelines Catholic Churches while living in California, and a member of St Elizabeth Ann Seton while living in Arizona.
During her long life, Clare was an active member in the Altar Society, Young Ladies Institute, Merilac Lodge, Catholic Daughters of America, 50+ Club, and the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. She was also a regular volunteer for Bingo at the church, a cub scout leader, and an avid Square Dancer.
Clare loved her family, traveling, volunteering, and her faith. She was always positive, cheerful, and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She had a deep appreciation for art, nature, and people; You could definitely say that she never met a stranger!
Clare is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years and her 8 siblings. She is survived by her 4 children {Karen Morris, Wayne Uphus, Louise Olson, and Robert Uphus}, 6 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October, 8, 2018, 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N. Shannon Rd. Tucson, AZ with father Jim Modeen officiating.

Rosary and Burial will be in Pomona, CA.
