Obituary for Sherri Lynn Mapes

Sherri Lynn  Mapes
Sherri Lynn Mapes, 61, of Oro Valley, peacefully passed away on February 23, 2018 surrounded by her family in Tucson, Arizona. She was born on September 4, 1956 to Charles and Janiece (Powell) Maddux in Tucson, Arizona. She attended school at Central Arizona College for two years where she completed her Associates of Science degree in 1977. Sherri was married to Carl E Mapes Jr at First Presbyterian Church in Casa Grande, Arizona on March 18, 1978. She and Carl most recently resided in Oro Valley, Arizona for 20 years and together they had two children. Sherri was a skillful and talented employee throughout her years but she was a phenomenal wife, mother and nonni.
Sherri will be fondly remembered for her selflessness, her stunning smile, her fortitude and her quiet presence. We will never forget her creativity which came from her love of art, music, reading, and nature. Sherri is survived by her loving spouse of nearly 40 years Carl, her son Carl Andrew Mapes, her daughter Crista Mapes, her grandson Gavin Mapes-Guerrero, her brother and sister-in-law David and Lydia Maddux, and her mother Janiece Maddux. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Macon Maddux.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm at the Adair Funeral Home Avalon Chapel in Oro Valley, Arizona. Sherri will be buried on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:30 am at East Lawn Palms Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona.
