Obituary for Marie Nicholson Carter
CARTER, Marie Nicholson born January 31, 1924 in Willcox, AZ, passed away at age 94 on February 18, 2017 in Tucson, AZ. She graduated from the University of Arizona in 1945, a varsity athlete in multiple sports and a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was inducted into the University of Arizona Sports Hall of Fame. She loved tennis and golf, was a fierce card player and traveled the world with her beloved husband, Fred. Marie is survived by her loving husband of 72 years Fred Carter Sr.; son, Fred Carter Jr.; daughters, Jacque Portewig and Wendy Reich; grandchildren, Brian Portewig, Kirsten Carter, Riley Carter, Corey Reich, and Clare Reich; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Carter, Sailor and Sebastian. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, AVALON CHAPEL.
